Rafael Nunez Aponte: Learn How to Keep Your Children Safe

Control what your children see online
As you know, having Internet connection at home can be really helpful or a harmful tool. Check these easy tips to control what your children watch on their computer at home in order to help you preventing child sexual abuse and to protect all your family members. Today, we will show you the most important tips to be protected:
First, consider that you should avoid the problem. So, start by preparing the members of your family, specially your children, in order to be protected before the problem or the attack comes to them and talk about the issue.
Talk about it: children often keep the abuse in secret. This is because abusers manipulate and confuse children in order to make them believe that what they are doing is normal or even a game. Always talk about child abuse to your children, adapting the conversation to a child speech to remove the barrier of silence.
Talk about the topic

Stay alert: give a careful credit to different signs such as irritation, swelling or rash on the genitalsurinary tract infections, and even other problems like abdominal pain or headaches result of anxiety. It is also very important to recognize emotional signs such as withdrawal or depression, excessive self-imposed, unexplained anger or rebellion problems.
Protect computers with passwords. To install a password for accessing to all devices will allow you to control the use of Internet at home.
Be always alert

Do not share personal information. Control personal data requested by children’s pages and pay attention to those that ask for personal information. Talk to your child for he/she understands the dangers about providing certain information publicly and also discuss about sweepstakes and promotions online.
Control the use of chats and messaging programs. Chats, social networks and instant messaging services can be the means that children use to share interests and build friendships. Nevertheless, the anonymity of the Internet can put children in the way of abusers or imposters.

What Considerations We Take about CSR

Actions to take for CSR programs
As we all know, when thinking about creating social programs or corporate social responsibility campaigns, we have to consider more than simply measuring our positive image or reputation on the market and the society.  This topic is more important than you may think and it is present in almost every committed company or individual with a deep sense and interest on social issues and needs of the different communities where the companies are operating.

Corporate social responsibility is an ethical framework which suggests that any entity - an organization or individual - has the responsibility to act for the benefit of society in different aspects: economy, technological development, education, environment, etc. Social responsibility is a duty every individual has to perform to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystems.

About the concept
Covering every aspect
Covering every aspect
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be defined as the economic, legal, ethical, and discretionary expectations that society has of organizations at a given point in time.  The concept of corporate social responsibility means that organizations have moral, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities in addition to their responsibilities to earn a fair return for investors and comply with the law.
History
The concept of CSR is relatively new - the phrase has only been in wide use since the 1960s. But, while the economic, legal, ethical, and discretionary expectations placed on organizations may differ, it is probably accurate to say that all societies at all points in time have had some degree of expectation that organizations would act responsibly, by some definition.

Today, the International Organization for Standardization  has the responsibility to encourage voluntary commitment to social responsibility and will lead to common guidance on concepts, definitions and methods of evaluation. The standard describes itself as a guide for dialogue and language, not a constraining or certifiable management standard.

Rafael Nunez Aponte: Corporate Social Responsibility Campaigns with Creativity

Think with creativity
There is no secret on the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility for companies or brands: having great and powerful campaigns will attract more customers to you! Those campaigns have to be carefully thought with respect, commitment and, of course, creativity. Today, we have brought to you little examples of great campaigns developed by famous companies in order to have more presence in the global society.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) means companies aligning their values with a greater good and taking action to have a positive effect on the people and the environment. They often do so through cause marketing, joining forces with nonprofit organizations and focusing ad campaigns on those philanthropic relationships.
Design catching ideas
Design catching ideas
CSR unforgettable campaigns are everywhere in your daily activities, from Pepsi Refresh giving away millions for ideas for improving the world to Tide sending a mobile fleet of washers and dryer to areas hit by natural disasters. Why are more companies than ever flaunting their good works this way? It could be because they realize that their employees want to be part of a business that does more than just make money.

We can also consider the recent collaboration between The Central Bank and the Gallery of Photography. This work creates a single image. In a stunning series of pictures, Michael Durand used images of staff together with shredded banknotes to provide a great meaning to the actual monetary value that society has assigned to certain functions: from recycling to charitable donations to reality TV shows.

The image shows a staff member sitting at a desk with a little pile of notes showing the average annual donation to charity per person in Ireland, set with a photograph of another employee in a car park next to a great volume of shredded notes which represent the value of a Mercedes Benz Maybach. A super great and visual promotion.

Sign Language: A New Way of Great Service

Commitment and responsibility at Starbucks
Last month, Ibby Piracha walked into his favorite Starbucks and received something great, beyond his favorite blended beverage. This deaf man approached the counter to order and his barista signed "What do you want to drink?" This fact surprised Piracha a lot because the barista actually learned to sign specifically, so Piracha and the rest of deaf customers would get the "same experience as everyone else."
After this episode, Piracha posted a photo on Facebook from his Feb. 19 visit to the Virginia Starbucks, and today, the photo has become viral, garnering more than 13,000 shares and 3,600 likes. Captioning the photo, Piracha expressed his thanks, writing that he received a blessing gesture from the employee for taking the time to learn a skill that would make his visits more enjoyable.
Employee has learnt sign language
Employee has learnt sign language
Sign language is a visual language that uses a system of manual, facial and body movements as the means of communication. This language is not a universal language, and different sign languages are used in different countries, like the many spoken languages all over the world. Some countries such as Belgium, the UK, the USA or India have more than one sign language. Hundreds of sign languages are in used around the world.

Do you think that learning this important means of communication is a necessary tool in fast food restaurants as in the case of Virgina Starbucks? Is this a language that each employee can learn by his/her own? Or could it be mandatory to learn at list some basic phrases for the public? There is no doubt that communicating in sign language turn the Piracha’s visits more enjoyable and pleasant, and, of course, put him at the same well-deserve place of every other customer in the restaurant.

Rafael Nunez Aponte
Regarding the 2016 edition of the annual event InfoSecurity, organized by Information Security Inc. (ISEC), we talked with Rafael Nunez Aponte, in his role of computer security specialist and CEO of MásQueDigital. Nunez spoke to doblellave.com and commented topics about the massification of technology and high Internet connectivity as well as highlighted how vulnerabilities and risks in the field have increased more and more every day. Rafael Nunez expressed his concern and gave a piece of advice about cybersecurity saying that people are used to see Internet as a safe tool, when in the intangible world there are many threats such as:
  • hackers,
  • robots,
  • and social engineering attacks.
From Caracas, Rafael Nunez said that it is important to raise awareness in Latin America since, from his point of view, Latin America people are very reactive and wait too much before acting; he also noted that companies must invest in cybersecurity in order to protect themselves and understand that it is not an expense of resources, but an important investment.
